Tomball Jail Plans
Six drawings created in 1935 by the county engineer for a county annex in north Harris County demonstrate the requirements needed to provide law enforcement over 30 miles from the courthouse in Houston. The rectangular 1960 square foot building would contain 2 jail cells (with space for 2 additional cells), a courtroom, a jury room, and an office. This building was not constructed. Revisions to the plans were made in 1937.
Court House Guide 1931
Although there is no publication information, this interesting guide to the Harris County Court House in 1931 was likely created as a money-making venture. By selling advertisements and opportunities to place photographs and biographies, the publishers were able to recoup their expenditures. There is no indication the guide had a purchase price. The information about the county government at that time is accurate and useful.
