Harris County and the Astrodome
The Harris County Archives, in partnership with the Harris County Public Library, has identified and digitized many photographs, letters, deeds, plans, and articles that relate to the construction of the Astrodome during the 1960s. Some of these records were used in exhibits on the Astrodome Memories website, while others remain in the Harris County Digital Archive. County records related to the Astrodome were found in a variety of collections, including the offices of the County Judge, County Attorney, Commissioner Squatty Lyons, Treasurer, Auditor, Engineer, and Surveyor.
This digitization project was underwritten by grants from the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
